This premium park which is home to the famous flamingos which dot the lake pink. It’s a shallow alkaline lake in Kenya’s rift valley and the Big 5 as well. Lake Nakuru is also a rhino sanctuary of the endangered black and white rhino with over 450 bird species an important stop over on the African – Eurasian migratory flyway as well.
Hell’s Gate, a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley offers spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers and scrub clad volcanoes make it one of the most atmospheric parks in Africa. Hell’s Gate is an ideal venue for a day trip from Nairobi where, in addition to the bio-diversity that includes raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing and a natural spa.
Later on enjoy a boat ride at Lake Naivasha and visit Crescent Island. The shores host abundant birdlife including pelicans, cormorants and fish-eagles with their haunting cry. There are more animals per acre than any other Kenyan park; hence many film companies have been to the Island to film the herds of Wildebeest, Waterbuck, Zebra and Gazelle.
This attractive club sits on the side of a hill and enjoys great views of Mt. Kenya. After lunch you will be transferred by bus to the Ark Tree Lodge located 11 Miles/ 17 Kilometers away in the Aberdare National Park. The Ark Tree Lodge is built in the shape of Noah's biblical ark and this is where you spend the night enjoying the wildlife that comes to drink and eat the salt by the floodlit watering hole. The Ark overlooks floodlit water holes visited regularly by buffalo, elephant, wart hog, bush pig, a variety of antelope and occasionally lion and other large animals. The evening is spent on the open air verandahs or in the public.
An early morning visit to Nairobi National Park (the only park within a city globally). The wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded.
Later on visit David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust; a rescue and rehabilitation center for orphaned elephants as well as rhinos. Here, you will get the chance to feed the elephants.
Stop over for lunch then visit Giraffe Centre-the only sanctuary in the world within a capital city that enables you to come into very close contact with the world’s tallest yet endangered animal, the Rothschild giraffe.
Visit Karen Blixen and Kazuri Beads where you get to learn the process of bead making and also buy some of them.
